The Hungarian Council of Psychotherapy (HCP) is a voluntary alliance of Hungarian professional associations, each representing different psychotherapeutic methods. At present, 17 method-specific associations are represented within the Council (member associations).
Our mission is to provide a unified perspective on the specific characteristics and challenges of the psychotherapeutic profession, to advocate for the field, and to bring together the various method-based associations.
The Council strives to represent psychotherapy to relevant decision-making bodies, organizations, and authorities. More detailed information about our aims, activities, and the requirements for member associations can be found in our Founding Charter (Hungarian).
Aims
- Representing the professional specificities of psychotherapy
- Updating the Ethical Code of the Hungarian Council of Psychotherapy and providing guidance on ethical issues
- Supporting psychotherapy practice and research from a professional perspective
- Representing the Hungarian psychotherapy profession within the European Association for Psychotherapy
- Promoting broader awareness and understanding of psychotherapy
- Facilitating and coordinating the accreditation of training programs offered by member associations
- Developing shared professional standards for psychotherapy training
